The arrest took place in Bridgeport on Thursday, June 2 in connection with the Monday, May 9 homicide.
Delvon Angel Rodriguez, age 21, of Bridgeport, was charged with manslaughter and carrying a pistol without a permit in the shooting death of Jose Alicea, age 38, of Bridgeport, said Capt. Kevin Gilleran, of the Bridgeport Police.
According to Gilleran, on the day of the murder, Rodriguez went to his neighbor’s house, located at 65 Washington Terrace, and shot him through a first-floor window.
Alicia allegedly exchanged words with Rodriguez moments before the shooting, Gilleran said.
"In a statement to investigators, Rodriguez admitted to shooting Alicea; allegedly over a conflict, Alicea had with his girlfriend earlier that day," he said.
He is being held on a $1 million dollar bond and will be arraigned in court on Friday, June 3.
"This arrest is another example of the excellent work performed by members of the Bridgeport Police Department on a daily basis," Gilleran said. "I would like to specifically thank those members assigned to the detective bureau’s homicide squad."
